Ghibli, say 'yes' please! Here's why:

David Bull is an exceptional wood block printer. He has made these prints exciting for people all over the world with his work on Ukiyo-e Heroes.

It seems fitting that such classical Japanese films as My Neighbor Totoro be printed in the Japanese woodblock style by a master printer.

I would absolutely love to place these on my mantle, where I can be reminded of those fond moments that Ghibli created.

Ghibli, say 'yes' please! Here's why: woodblock printing is a traditional Japanese art, and I think it's wonderful that a modern artist wishes to continue making traditional Japanese art of Japanese characters and scenes. Mr. Bull's woodblock prints are beautiful, and I think it would be a shame if Ghibli turned down an opportunity for their characters to be represented in such a classic and artistic way. There is a lot of art in Ghibli films, so I feel that moving still frames to another medium only compliments the films themselves. On a more pragmatic note, I think this is a good way for them to make some money, since Mr. Bull intends to compensate them for use of their intellectual property. I see no downside to this idea. Please allow Mr. Bull to make his beautiful woodblock prints!

Ghibli, say 'yes' please! Here's why: Aside from my own personal relationship to your movies and their cultural presence in an otherwise monocultural world, and my obsession with skilled art(ists), allowing a small collection of studio ghibli (namely, Princess mononoke and Ponyo) would be the best gift I could give any of the women in my life, and quite possibly win over the woman of my dreams (I'm 27). Making Studio Ghibli images available in woodblock form is a perfect celebration of how real and alive these stories are for our world.

Ghibli, say 'yes' please! Here's why:

The traditional practice of Japanese woodblock printmaking is the perfect medium to portray the beautiful artwork from Mr. Miyazaki's masterpieces.

The prints being produced in a Japanese shop and using traditional techniques should be seen as a passionate homage to the Ghibli films, and will give fans of both printmaking and Studio Ghibli an opportunity to show their support and own a wonderful piece of art.

Ghibli, say 'yes' please! Here's why: The work of David and his team is incredible. Not only is it beautiful once it's printed, but also the woodwork is amazing to see. It seems to me that Ukiyo-e would be something I could see in a Ghibli movie. It's not only traditional and handcrafted, it's also something that can stay very modern and heatwarming at the same time. It would be a dream to see the result of a collaboration between the great artists of studio Ghibli and the expertise of Mokuhankan. Please, Ghibli, say yes ! :)

Printer David Bull respects and appreciates the true Japanese spirit of Ghibli Studio works, and sees his proposed print project as a way to showcase the unique Japanese artform of traditional woodblock print with iconic Ghibli Studio characters. Allowing Mr. Bull to proceed will create a fine art interpretation of these popular works, and heighten the appreciation for truly Japanese art.
